5 Reasons Why You Should Shop at the Pound Shop

Pound shops are excellent for finding inexpensive necessities for your home. Why pay high-end prices for products at larger chains when you get the same items for a lot less at the pound down the street? From grooming essentials and kitchen utensils to greeting cards and cleaning supplies, here are five reasons you should be shopping at the pound shop.

1. Kitchen Essentials

Avid cooks swear by pricey pots, pans and cutlery, but if you’re not a wannabe chef there’s no reason to spend money on high-quality cook- and bakeware that will spend most of the time in your cupboards. You can most certainly get by with what the pound shop has to offer — and it will last a while if you take care of it properly. Pound shop cutlery, especially, should be washed by hand, however. The reason you’re saving money on these kitchen essentials at the pound shop is because they aren’t made of the same durable materials as their costlier counterparts. Still, they’ll serve the purposes you need as long as you’re willing to put in a little work at home.

2. Party Paraphernalia

Never go to a name-brand party store when the pound shop probably has everything you need to decorate for your upcoming soiree. Balloons and steamers are abundant, but you can also find gift bags, cards, themed serving dishes and candles to give your fete the festive look it needs to satisfy your guests

3. Cleaning Supplies

Why cleaning supplies are so expensive is baffling. Skip the queue at Tesco and hop over to the pound shop to find the same cleaning agents at more than half the price. If you’re smart, you’ll stock up, especially if you know you use one cleaner more than another, so you can save additional time and money since you won’t have to make an extra trip.

4. Art and Office Materials

There’s almost always an entire aisle at the pound shop dedicated to craft paper, pens, pencils, markers, folders, and more that you and your kids — if you have them — can use in the office and around the house, respectively. For the kids, pick up cheap craft supplies to keep them entertained — and encourage their imagination. Since you’re not spending more than a pound per item, treat yourself to new office supplies that you won’t be able to find anywhere else for less.

5. Personal Hygiene Products

There’s no getting around having to buy soap and shampoo, but you can lessen the blow to your wallet if you pick up these grooming products at the pound shop. What’s offered might not be the same brand that you normally use — or contain all those uppity ingredients — but it will do its job. You’ll feel as fresh and clean as you would if you had spent two pounds more — just without all the guilt.
