    “Lucy Locket lost her pocket
    Kitty Fisher found it…..” etc
They were real poeple, young courtesans in London in 17th century. The word pocket was being used euphemistically, to describe how Lucy Locket fell out of favour with her royal patron the King, and then Kitty Fisher (aged about 13 or 14) took on her role – with all the financial benefits which came from that position.
